cPanel main domain.
› cPanel › cPanel main domain.
The feature of
cPanel is the main domain.
The domain is assigned at the stage of creating the service and it is the main one for the account.
It is not possible to change the main domain or the path to the main domain (directory) using the panel's tools.
You can contact hosting technical support to change the main domain in cPanel.
cPanel has domains, aliases, additional domains. The new domain name cannot be used in an account to correctly change the main domain.
If the domain has been added as an additional domain or alias then remove it from the panel and then create a support request to set it as the main one.
The main domain directory is always
public_html. The directory cannot be changed even by support. This is
cPanel feature.
Therefore, if the main domain "
domain1.com" needs to be replaced with an additional one or an alias "
domain2.com", you need to:
- remove additional domain or alias domain2.com from the panel;
- clear the public_html directory.
- copy the site files from the domain2.com directory to the public_html directory (use the "File Manager", more details here).
- submit a domain change request to hosting support.
