Creating a «Quiz» Activity in Moodle

To create a «Quiz» activity, you need to be logged in as an administrator and enable «Editing mode».

Click «Add an activity or resource».

Select the «Quiz» activity and click «Add».

In the «Name» field, enter the title of the quiz.

Let's review the general settings for quizzes:

Synchronization Tab.

The «Open the quiz» and «Close the quiz» fields allow you to set a specific time period for the quiz to be available.

You can also set a time limit for the quiz using the «Time limit» field.

In the «When time expires» field, you can specify the actions to be taken once the time runs out.

«Grades» Tab:
Here, you can specify the grade category, which needs to be created in advance.
You can also define the number of attempts, depending on the quiz's purpose:

  • For final assessments, the number of attempts might be limited to one.
  • For practice quizzes, multiple attempts can be allowed.

«Layout» Tab:
Here, you can specify the number of questions displayed per page.

«Question behavior» Tab:
Here, you can choose whether to display questions randomly or in a fixed order and set the question behavior mode.

«Review Options» Tab:
It is recommended to keep these settings at their default values.

«Appearance» Tab: • «Show the user's picture»: Useful for better identification during the quiz. • «Decimal places in grades»: Specifies the number of decimal places displayed in the grades.

«Overall feedback» Tab:
Here, you can provide custom feedback based on the percentage of the quiz completed.

When you’ve finished configuring the settings, click «Save and display».
